Essence Series custom windows are a true wood window enveloped by a tough, durable fiberglass frame. Interiors are available in clear Douglas fir, natural pine or primed pine. Seal or stain the natural pine or fir to complement the wood finishes in your home. Or go with primed wood and paint the color of your choice.
The fiberglass exterior is available in 16 designer colors. We apply the paint using the latest advances in powder coat finishing technology (also used in aerospace and automotive applications.) This makes it more durable than conventional finishes, providing increased protection against fading, chipping and scrapes.
Picture windows are available in casement/awning and double hung/slider frames that create a clean, consistent look when used with the matching operating style. The design of each of these combinations will create even sightlines throughout your home and work well in new construction or replacement projects.
Essence Series fiberglass exteriors are resistant to water, cold, heat, insects, salt air and ultraviolet rays for long-lasting performance and low-maintenance. The powder coated fiberglass exterior finish will not crack, peel, bend, warp or stick. Choose from a variety of ENERGY STAR energy package options.
Essence Series windows come with the option of our patented Milgard SmartTouch lock or a traditional spoon lock. Folding nesting operating handles and slim line sash locks are standard on casements and awnings. Double hung and slider windows come with integrated tilt latches.
Essence Series windows and patio doors offer frame trim kits that are specifically made for the Essence Series. Available in all 16 exterior colors, options include Flush or Mitered joints in Flat Casing or Brickmould.
The technology behind the patented SmartTouch lock was an industry first. With one hand you can easily lift the locking mechanism to unlock and open or close the window. The SmartTouch lock exceeds all California forced-entry requirements, which are among the most rigorous in the nation.

Double Hung wooden sash windows have beautiful details such as a 3 1/4" tall exterior bottom rail on the sash and 14-degree exterior sloped sill. The tilt latches and the SmartTouch lock make the window very easy to open and create a streamlined look. A traditional spoon lock is also available.
Essence Series horizontal sliding windows open almost effortlessly. Clean lines complement many home styles. Sliders feature latches for removal of vents. Choose from the SmartTouch or traditional spoon lock for opening and closing.
Essence Series wooden casement windows combine unobstructed views with great function. The fold down handle and slim-line sash lock give the interior a clean elegant look. Casement windows are hinged on the left or right side and swing out for maximum ventilation. Also available with a radius or arched top.
Modern styling combined with the beauty of wood Essence Series awning windows a popular choice for contemporary or Craftsman homes. Awnings are hinged at the top to tilt outward, allowing for ventilation even in bad weather. Awning windows use a folding nesting operating handle.
Essence Series picture windows are available in double hung, casement, or standard picture window styles. With no obstructing rails, picture windows help you make the most of a great view.
Radius windows have rounded tops which brings softness to any room. This window style can also include half circles, full circles and even arched shapes. Choose from fixed picture windows or windows that open for ventilation.
Our newest operating style to the Essence Series, the Radius Casement is made with a durable, phenolic exterior that allows for shapes not available with fiberglass. Concealed hinges and no visible fasteners ensure a clean look. Available in arched or round-top styles with matching picture windows.
